The course shall be made available to (1) any law enforcement officer or public school employee referred by the board of education of the public school to which assignment as; a safe schools resource officer or school liaison to law enforcement is sought; (2) any safe schools resource officer or school liaison to law enforcement assigned to a public school prior to the effective date of P.L.2005, c.276 (C.52:17B-71.8 et al.), effective Jan 6, 2006; and (3) any Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III appointed after July 1, 2017.

The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit will present information concerning their investigations and Internet Safety.

The New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers (NJASRO) will discuss School Resource Officers’ roles in schools when handling social media matters.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Director of the Office of School Preparedness & Emergency Planning (OSPEP), Mr. Jeffery Gale, will discuss the resources available to schools through their office when handling threats involving social media.

This one-day refresher course is designed for School Resource Officers, Class III Officers, School Security Personnel, School Safety Specialists, Juvenile Officers, or others who previously completed the Police Training Commission (PTC) Safe Schools Resource Officer/School Liaison Training Course two or more years ago.
