2008 Conference

The 2008 conference will be held at the Trump Marina Casino on Brigantine Blvd. Atlantic City, NJ (609)441-2000. The cost of a room per night will be $98.00 which you can book directly through the hotel. Various speakers have been scheduled covering various topics. "Inside the Mind of a Teen Killer" Phil Chalmers, and "Threat Assessment" by FBI Special Agent Tonya Desa. Check back for further updates.

2006 Statewide Conference Highlights:

Several hundred SROs, school administrators, and other school security professionals from across the state gathered to attend the 4th annual NJASRO Statewide School Safety Training Conference on Nov 8-10 in Atlantic City.

Attendees participated in a variety of workshops and training sessions and had the opportunity to meet with industry leading vendors in school security equipment and services. Among this year’s speakers were nationally recognized school safety experts Curt Lavarello, Kenneth Trump, and Sean Burke. More then 40 SROs took part in the active school shooter training exercise at Atlantic City High School, led by Tenafly Police Chief Michael Bruno. New Jersey Assemblywoman Joan Voss kicked off the conference with an update on the status of the new SRO training law, and how it will affect training in the New Jersey beginning next year.

Other highlights included presentations by Internet safety expert Andrew Donofrio, and a presentation on non-conventional emergencies by Brendan McCluskey. The family of slain school safety officer Duane Reeves was also on hand to share their appreciation for what the members of NJASRO have done
over the past year to remember him.

NJASRO is in the planning stages for the 2008 conference, which will take place in Atlantic City. More information will be forthcoming as we are in the planning stages.
